French
Polynesia Travel
Lush
foliage, fragrant flowers, pristine beaches, and crystal clear
waters are only a few of the sights you'll enjoy every day in
French Polynesia. If you have never vacationed on one of the
Polynesian islands, you have yet to experience one of the most
beautiful places on earth. French Polynesia travel offers far
more benefits than popular travel destinations such as Mexico
and the Caribbean can offer, simply because it has remained
a relatively well-kept secret.

The
French Polynesian islands see approximately the same number
of visitors in a year as Hawaii welcomes in a busy week. As
a result, much of the natural beauty of this special island
community has remained relatively untouched. There is a feeling
of tranquility that is evident on every island, allowing visitors
to truly relax and focus on the rich details that make French
Polynesia travel a tempting prospect.
Cooled
by the gentle breezes of the Pacific, the weather in Tahiti
is sunny and pleasant with a yearly average temperature of 80°
F. Roughly speaking, there are two seasons: warmer and humid
characterize the months that span November through May while
June through October bring a cooler and drier climate. Few island
paradises are able to compete with the awe inspiring landscape
and rich culture that makes French Polynesia truly unique. Polynesia's
remote location kept her people isolated from the world until
European explorers began visiting the islands in the 1700s.
For
decades, Great Britain and France rivaled over the ownership
rights of Tahiti. In 1944, France declared Polynesia a territory
of France. It wasn't until 1984 that Polynesia was able to make
great strides in moving towards political autonomy. Today, Polynesia
controls most of its own affairs, allowing its rich culture
and heritage to remain strong.
